The objective of this project was to comprehensively review and update the offshore and inshore fisheries legislation and Regulations of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) so that they are aligned with regional and international best practice and provide the necessary framework towards ensuring that fisheries resources are managed sustainably and in the best long term interests of the Marshallese people.

MRAG reviewed the Marine Resource Act 1997 and the Marshall Islands Fisheries Regulations 1998, outlined the legal issues to be addressed and drafted amendments for both of them.
