The objective of the overarching project is to determine the best management regime for the Northern Prawn Fishery based on all of the relevant costs and benefits of the various management options (compared to a benchmark case). This project Includes the following modules: Bioeconomic modeling of the choice of instrument and profitability; Bioeconomic modeling of the optimized status quo and the cost of effort creep; Preseason TAC for banana prawns; Efficiency analysis.; Measures of ESD impacts by management scenario;  Measures of management costs by scenario, including the costs of structural adjustment and the potential effects on asset values.

MRAG  was subcontracted to  undertake an assessment of measures of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) impacts by management scenario. MRAG also assisted in writing of the draft and final reports.
