The main objective of this project was to contribute to the sustainable and equitable management of fisheries in ACP regions, thus leading to poverty alleviation and improving food security.

The purposes of this contract were to support the Fisheries Division (FD) in:  

  • Assessing the distribution and abundance of bigeye tuna in the waters of Mauritius;

Determining the appropriate fishing gear(s) to be used to catch bigeye tunas and provide capacity building in the fishing techniques to local fishermen.
