To inform nature conservation advice, NRW required a contractor to collate, review, synthesise and present evidence on the distribution and population structure of key marine fish species in Welsh waters. This collation of evidence may be published as an NRW Evidence Report and has been written in the NRW Evidence Report style. Supporting information including raw/processed data and GIS layers / shapefiles supporting the report have been provided to accompany the report which include:
1. Evidence sources on the distribution and population structure of the selected species in Welsh waters tincluding scientific papers and grey literature reports, existing evidence databases and publically available data from scientific fish surveys.
2. Evidence on important areas for the selected species in Welsh waters for different lifestages of the species (e.g. egg, larvae, juvenile, adult) and different lifecycle processes (e.g. nursery, feeding, spawning)
3. Evidence on genetic differentiation, length-frequency distributions, home ranges and migrations considering evidence for different lifestages and seasonality.
4. Where gaps exist within the evidence, they have been highlighted in the report, with recommendations for filling evidence gaps suggested.
