This project is the fisheries assessment part of an Environmental Assessment being carried out on Lake Volta in Ghana by ERM. Volta Lake is the world’s largest man-made lake with a surface of 8,515 square kilometers (3,861 square miles). It came into being with the construction in 1964 of the Akosombo Dam, a 768,000-kilowatt hydroelectric project managed by the Volta River Authority (VRA) that supplies hydroelectricity to Ghana and neighbouring Togo and Benin.
