Tanzania Liquid Natural Gas Baseline Marine Study

In Phase I of this study, MRAG conducted marine and socio-economic surveys at a number of potential sites along the coast to inform a site selection process for the location of gas pipeline landfalls, gas processing plants and on-shore pipelines. Upon site selection, MRAG conducted a socio-economic fishery baseline survey to support the wider ESIA, in collaboration with project partners. This included baseline reporting, impact assessment, mitigation strategy design, creation of monitoring plans, and biodiversity off-setting strategies. Phase II of the study involved the delivery of a full ESIA of the BG Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas plant on the country’s south coast.
