MRAG is a leading environmental consultancy dedicated to the sustainable management of natural resources. We specialise in aquatic resources, in particular fisheries.

About this job

We are currently looking to fill a position for a fisheries observer coordinator to work on a variety of observer programmes. The post is based in central London with some hybrid working and may include opportunities for overseas travel. This is a full-time position starting in mid-August or sooner.

Demonstrating a keen interest in aquatic conservation and resource management, you will possess a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification. Experience working at sea and knowledge of additional languages will be an advantage.


You will assist observer programme managers in the implementation of fisheries observer programmes, including arranging logistics, delivering training and debriefings, data analysis and report preparation and providing general administrative support.

Required experience and skills include:

  1. BSc degree in Marine Biology or a related subject is essential.
  2. Practical experience of scientific work at sea or previous scientific observer experience is desirable.
  3. Good communication skills, including good standard of written and spoken English.
  4. Demonstrated ability to manage data collection systems using databases/spreadsheets required.
  5. Demonstrated ability to undertake data analysis desirable.
  6. Good writing skills required.
