On behalf of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), and in accordance with the Technical and Scientific Fisheries Advice Contract, provide UK technical and scientific input into the African capacity building training event to be held in Southern Africa. MRAG Ltd sent a representative on behalf of the UK to deliver particular components of the event and to report back to the FCO on the outcomes and effectiveness of the event in general terms for consideration by CCAMLR at the XXIXth meeting of the Commission.
The overall aim of the capacity building training event is to create, in partnership with the Partnership for African Fisheries, a network of key stakeholders based in Africa with an interest in, the authority to, and the expertise to be able to help CCAMLR overcome some of the obstacles it faces in preventing, deterring and eliminating IUU fishing in the CCAMLR Convention Area.
