MRAG has a core aquaculture team dedicated to promoting the sustainable development of aquaculture through sound integrated management policies and practices. Building on decades of experience in aquatic resource management, MRAG has developed a proven capacity for delivering diverse and complex aquaculture projects worldwide, underpinned by strong technical and scientific expertise and a multi-disciplined understanding of aquaculture, fisheries, climate change, environmental risks and the blue economy.

Our staff bring expertise that extends beyond simply production technologies to encompass socio-economic, legal, and environmental aspects of aquaculture and the wider value chain. Taking a holistic approach to aquaculture, we offer services across all stages of industry development: from scoping studies and feasibility assessments, site selection and marine spatial planning, through to growth analysis, environmental and social impact assessments, certification, and ex-post evaluations. MRAG has experience across the full spectrum of production systems and species including marine and freshwater finfish, macroalgae, crustaceans, and molluscs, capable of providing advice and recommendations to ensure sustainable production that balances economic opportunity with environmental and social responsibility.

MRAG’s work spans the entire aquaculture value chain, from feed production and ingredient sourcing, through to production, processing and marketing. MRAG also offers services in aquaculture certification including production and marine ingredient sourcing.
